Our Story
From Personal Triumph to Educational Excellence
Every great school begins with a powerful story. Ours started with a mother’s love, a child named Treasure, and the discovery that changed everything.
The Story That Started It All
In 2013, Mrs. Dassi Tagu Daniella was a nursing student in the UK with a bright future ahead. She had completed her GCSE in English and Mathematics and secured a place at Leicester University. But life had different plans.
Her youngest son, Treasure, began displaying challenging behaviors that no daycare could handle. Every morning, she would drop him off with hope. Every afternoon, she’d receive the dreaded call: “Please come get your son. We can’t manage him.”
The Impossible Choice
Faced with no childcare options and a university place waiting, Mrs. Daniella made the heart-wrenching decision that would ultimately change hundreds of lives – she gave up her Leicester University
placement to stay home with Treasure.
“I cried,” she remembers. “Here was my child who needed me, and traditional education had already failed him before he’d even properly started.”
The Three-Month Miracle
Instead of giving up, Mrs. Daniella did something extraordinary. She decided to educate Treasure herself. Through research, she recognized signs of autism spectrum disorder, though Treasure hadn’t been diagnosed yet. She tried everything – special diets, various therapies, countless approaches recommended online.
Nothing worked.
Finally, she made a leap of faith: “I decided to give up everything, believe in God, and start teaching Treasure myself – how to act, how to control his behavior, how to learn.”
The transformation was miraculous:
- Within 3 months, Treasure became her most disciplined child
- He could follow instructions perfectly
- His behavior was exemplary
- He was polite, well-mannered, and eager to learn
The Diagnosis That
Changed Everything
Two years later, Treasure received his official autism diagnosis. Among five families being evaluated, he was the only Black child and was diagnosed with the most severe level of autism. The doctors delivered devastating news:
“Your son will never talk. He will never control his actions. He will never follow instructions.”
But Treasure was already proving them wrong. By the time of his diagnosis, he was:
- Speaking clearly
- Following complex instructions
- Excelling in his studies
- The most well-behaved of all the children evaluated
The medical team was astounded. The child they diagnosed as most severe was actually the highest
functioning.
The Lesson That Became Our Mission:
“Even a child with mental challenges, if given proper education, can be transformed. Education changes
everything.”
Continuing a Family Legacy
A Heritage of Educational Champions
Mrs. Daniella’s passion for education runs in her blood. Her father was legendary in their village in Cameroon for his commitment to children’s education. His daily mission
- Finding children sent home for unpaid school fees
- Paying their fees from his own pocket
- Convincing reluctant parents about education’s importance
- Ensuring no child missed school due to poverty
“Many successful people in France and Europe today give testimony,” Mrs. Daniella shares with pride. “They say if it weren’t for my father, they would never have gone to school. So many people named their children ‘Tagu’ after him.”
This legacy of believing in every child’s right to education continues at The Treasures.
